you can quote me

I thoroughly enjoy quotes.

usually shorter quotes.

a succinct clear statement that indicates far more than it would seem.

I have gathered up a few of my favorite quotes below.

I hope that you enjoy them as much as I do.

We are intricately made, but easily broken.

Christ died for our sake, but for His glory. – John Piper

I tore out all of the pages I have ever written about him and threw them into an ugly plastic bag, down the garbage hole. they are elsewhere now, floating aimlessly beneath the city.

And today was a day just like any other – Jack’s Mannequin

In regards to Music:

It’s one thing to know the notes, It’s another to feel them, like they know you, like something from before, piercing through, a memory, a beginning, a place to start.

on marriage:

“Did He not make them one, with a portion of the Spirit in their union?” – Malachi 2:15

They do not see marriage as two flawed people coming together to create a space of stability, love and consolation, a “haven in a heartless world,” as Christopher Lasch describes it:

We never know whom we marry; we just think we do. Or even if we first marry the right person, just give it a while and he or she will change. For marriage, being [the enormous thing it is] means we are not the same person after we have entered it. The primary challenge of marriage is learning how to love and care for the stranger to whom you find yourself married.

Love without truth is sentimentality; it supports and affirms us but keeps us in denial about our flaws. Truth without love is harshness; it gives us information but in such a way that we cannot really hear it. God’s saving love in Christ, however, is marked by both radical truthfulness about who we are and yet also radical, unconditional commitment to us. The merciful commitment strengthens us to see the truth about ourselves and repent. The conviction and repentance moves us to cling to and rest in God’s mercy and grace.

Conformity is not maturity.

I thought I could describe a state, make a map of sorrow. Sorrow, however, turns out be not a state, but a process – C.S. Lewis

I like you, girl you don’t got nothing to prove to me – NeverShouNever

Faith alone saves, but faith that saves is not alone.

On a relationship:

‘We are not perfect people, but we are perfect for each other’

TRUE ENCOURAGEMENT, not flattery or compliments:

A statement that somehow reveals the character, nature or activity of God.

And you?

What about you?
